How to add photos to your posts

First you need to set up an image hosting account:

I only know how to use photobucket but there are others

http://tutorials.photobucket.com/

http://www.flickr.com/
http://www.imageshack.us/

Upload your image from your computer to the hosting site, then, for instance on photobucket, in 'my album' hover your cursor over your image to reveal a link menu below it ,and copy the IMG code (looks a bit like [IMG]http://something.phobucket.com/albums/something/something.jpg[IMG]) then post that code in your message where you want the image to appear:
hooray!

Hopefully someone will explain it better or you will figure it out for yourself

Please keep your images fairly small otherwise they take ages to download and you will annoy people! (you can resize them on photobucket if you use the edit feature)

Yeah, and I am apparently waiting for Scott to abandon his too. Since he started to play with opposite hands I can't bear his playing, this is why I am obviously bored and holding my ear. But who is that man doing his poo in our plant pot???

You can also upload photos directly from your computer just by clicking on the Upload Attachment tab at the bottom of your posting, then browsing to the relevant file and clicking Add the File. You can then add a comment and choose to place the photo inline if you wish. Unfortunately, this doesn't resize the photo to fit, but adds slide bars on the side and bottom edge if the picture is too big to be displayed. The maximum width to avoid this seems to be 500 pixels. You can only add 3 pictures to a post. I think there are setting on phpBB that can be adjusted to allow bigger photos, or more of them per post, but I wouldn't know where to find them...

Okay that is really easy and clever! Photobucket probably offers more options but the attatchment method is faster. Plus I guess we can attatch PDF's of music or MP3's ....the bulletin board is ace!

Hardly a ! I regularly use another pspBB board (in fact I'm an admin on that), and this is the method that most people use to post photos within postings, but we don't get the slide bars on the other board - guess that must be a setting somewhere. The other board also has a facility to add direct links to Youtube clips. To do this, all you do is paste in something like

[youtube]EpUxFH3RfhI[/youtube]

where the EpUxFH3RfhI bit is the bit in the URL of the Youtube film that comes after the

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=

and it does the rest. Unfortunately this feature doesn't seem to be enabled here and I have no idea how you would do it. For now, we can still post links to Youtube films, by pasting the full URL, sandwiched between the [ url ] tags. So, for example, inserting

[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpUxFH3RfhI[/url]

would give :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpUxFH3RfhI

You can also make one word the link, for example I could have said:

[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpUxFH3RfhI]This[/url] is a film that I took of a local windmill.

which looks like this:
This is a film that I took of a local windmill.

Hi there

I don't think anyone's mentioned yet, but if you just attach a picture that comes up with scroll bars, clicking on the image will reveal the whole thing - just posted my dulcimer pic, and it's worked for everything else I've tried.
